How to size PoE for cameras
Add watts per camera, spare ports and the switch power budget. Class 0 cameras lie.
Port count is not the power budget
A 24-port PoE switch may only fund 16 cameras at once. Add the maker’s watt per camera (infrared on, heater on if outdoor), then spare about 20%. Class 0 devices can advertise more than they draw — still size from the camera sheet, not from hope.
