kWh and kvarh: if the file asks for power factor, the meter must see Q

Many branch meters only pulse kWh. If the owner asks cosφ per plant — you need P, Q or kvarh registers.

The file says “energy monitoring”. Someone buys a single-channel kWh pulse meter. The technical team asks for chiller power factor — the point does not exist. kWh is active energy. kvarh / Q is reactive. Cosφ comes from both, or from a live register if the meter has one.

Pulses are enough for monthly totals. For P, Q, phases, THD: Modbus and a map. Do not buy a “smart meter” whose firmware has no Q. Write the quantities the file requires, not only “BMS connected”.
