Choose a variable-speed drive from the motor

Size a drive from motor kW and current, pump or fan load, and EMC filters.

Two 15 kW motors can draw different amps. The drive has to carry rated current at site voltage, not only the kW on the flyer. A pump or fan (variable torque) is not a conveyor — pick the series for the load, then decide how it talks to the BMS: a run contact, a 0–10 V speed, or Modbus.

Write kW, amps, volts, phases. If the motor cable is long, add the filter or choke the maker lists — an unfiltered drive over a BMS sensor tray is why 0–10 V ticks. Do not buy a “15 kW drive” and hope the current fits.
